AiNA THE END, one of Japan’s most compelling voices in alternative J-pop, has released her newest single “On The Way 革命道中,” now streaming as the official opening theme for Dandadan Season 2. The track fuses eerie pop elements with a surging emotional core, setting the tone for the anime’s blend of the occult and adolescence.
A dark pop anthem for Dandadan’s supernatural chaos
Written by AiNA THE END and arranged in collaboration with producer Shin Sakiura, the track captures Dandadan’s frantic spirit through shifting tones and layered vocals. The single’s unpredictable energy — pairing shimmering phrases like “sentimental love” with grinding beats and eerie atmospherics — mirrors the supernatural-meets-teenage turmoil of the anime.
The juxtaposition of levity and darkness is intentional. With call-and-response flourishes and dissonant melodies, the song reflects both youthful confusion and hidden strength — a fitting anthem for a story where yokai, aliens, and psychic powers disrupt everyday high school life.
A music video of duality and emotional rupture
Alongside the single, the music video pushes visual storytelling to surreal extremes. It stars two versions of AiNA: one human and one yokai. The two personas intersect across a shifting dreamscape, blurring the lines between fear and identity.
The final scene — a rain-soaked AiNA tearing off her yokai horns — leaves a searing impression of vulnerability and liberation, cementing the video as one of her most visually memorable yet.
More music, more stages: a tour to match the chaos
Fresh off a string of well-received releases including “Peerless Flowers” and “Aria,” AiNA continues to push boundaries not just musically, but creatively. In June, she published her memoir “達者じゃなくても,” adding author to her growing list of titles.
To promote the new single, AiNA THE END will headline a nine-city tour across Japan titled “On The Way 革命道中.” The tour kicks off on October 1 at Zepp Nagoya, promising live renditions that channel both the mysticism of the anime and the emotional depth of her songwriting.
