Despite its compact exterior, the AION UT is engineered to deliver a surprisingly spacious cabin experience. Its interior design emphasizes comfort and practicality, offering a lounge-like environment that challenges typical expectations of a hatchback segment vehicle.

GAC International Senior Vice President Steven Wang said the launch reflects the company’s continued push to diversify its mobility offerings in the Philippines through new energy vehicles.

Urban space design focus

The AION UT is built on a dedicated EV platform prioritizing interior space and ride comfort. It features a 2,750mm wheelbase and 905mm of rear legroom, allowing comfortable seating for three passengers in the back row.

Practicality is also emphasized with 24 storage compartments throughout the cabin and a 440-liter cargo space that expands when the rear seats are folded. A Vehicle-to-Load function allows the vehicle to power external devices, adding flexibility for travel and outdoor use.

Inside, the model is equipped with an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Safety is supported by a suite of driver assistance features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and a 360-degree camera system.

Performance and charging

The AION UT Elite variant is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 100 kW (136 PS) and 145 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 47.1 kWh LFP battery using GAC’s “Magazine Battery” technology.

Fast charging capability allows the battery to go from 30% to 80% in around 30 minutes, supporting convenient daily use and longer trips. The EV rides on 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/60 R16 tires tuned for urban driving comfort.
