Berd, the cycling technology company redefining the bicycle spoke, has unveiled the latest TRUDI wheel truing machine, designed to bring speed, precision, and consistency to professional wheelbuilding. Since its initial launch a year ago, TRUDI has helped builders produce over 150,000 wheels worldwide, and this newest iteration introduces expanded capabilities to meet modern wheelbuilding demands.

The machine now supports wheel sizes from 20-inch to 32-inch, accommodates e-bike wheels, and works with a broad range of rim and nipple types. Its tabletop design combines automated measurement with intelligent software and guided adjustments, transforming the traditionally iterative process into a precise, single-pass workflow.

Expanded compatibility and precision tools

The upgraded TRUDI now features Berd’s Universal Hub Mounting System, allowing builders to handle virtually any wheel and hub standard—including thru-axle, quick release, and bolt-on—within a single machine. A newly introduced Mini Tensiometer improves spoke tension measurement in tight patterns, ensuring accuracy even on smaller or e-bike wheels.

Workflow efficiency is enhanced with Berd’s external driver, allowing adjustments on standard nipples without removing the tire or rim tape. Quick-change tooling now supports square, hex, and proprietary nipple types, speeding up service and high-volume production tasks.

Advanced software and professional workflows

TRUDI’s software upgrades provide in-process guidance, custom spoke profiles, and tailored build recipes for specific wheel types. Expanded support for various spoke materials and lacing patterns, including 2:1, allows builders to maintain consistency while scaling operations. Additional features such as adjustable driver speeds and Chinese language support make TRUDI ideal for global manufacturing environments.

Charlie Spanjers, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of Berd, said, “Wheelbuilding is a complex, highly skilled process—TRUDI replaces an iterative, experience-driven process with a controlled, data-driven one. It reduces build time, improves precision, and lowers costs. For builders, it’s a total gamechanger.”
