Stephen King’s ‘Dark Tower’ Is Getting A TV Treatment, Apart From The Movie; Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey On Board?
The adaptation of Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” isn’t just happening on the big screen. It is also heading to the small screen as a 10 or 13 episode series. Idris Elba will likely star in this as well, as he’s already in the upcoming movie.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the “Dark Tower” movie treatment will be out in Feb. 2017. But MRC, the production company behind the movie, is also developing a TV spin-off. Currently, no network is attached to it just yet.
If it moves forward, MRC plans for the “Dark Tower” TV show to debut in 2018, with at least 10 or 13 episodes via the “Wizard and Glass,” which is part of the book series. It should be noted that MRC is also the production behind “House of Cards,” which is streaming on Netflix. Could the series potentially come to the platform as well?
“Dark Tower,” the movie adaptation stars Idris Elba as Roland Deshain. It is assumed the Elba will also become part of “Wizard and Glass” to lay the groundwork of the TV series. Also appearing on “Dark Tower” is Matthew McConaughey as the evil sorcerer. Speculations are that he might also become part of the spinoff show.
The “Dark Tower” book series by Stephen King was published from 1982 to 2012. It’s genre is horror and dark fantasy, with a bit of Western.
