Toyota’s Compact Land Cruiser FJ Roars Into PH Showrooms
Toyota Motor Philippines has officially opened retail sales of the all-new Land Cruiser FJ. It’s a smaller, more accessible version of one of the brand’s most legendary nameplates.
For generations, the Land Cruiser has built its reputation in the Philippines on durability, reliability, and an unmatched ability to tackle rough terrain. The all-new FJ carries that same DNA into a compact SUV built for daily driving.
Built Tough, Styled for the Streets
The Land Cruiser FJ pulls its design straight from classic Land Cruiser models. Think a bold, upright silhouette, short overhangs, a wide stance, and generous ground clearance built to handle off-road punishment.
At the same time, its compact proportions make it far easier to maneuver through city traffic than its larger siblings. A rear side-access cargo door, rear-mounted spare tire, and squared-off body panels round out its utilitarian look, giving owners a blank canvas for outdoor-ready personal builds.
Under the hood, both variants run on a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE naturally aspirated gasoline engine, delivering 166 horsepower and 245Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The FJ uses a part-time four-wheel-drive system, staying in rear-wheel drive for normal road use and switching to four-wheel drive when extra traction is needed.
The SUV rides on a ladder-frame chassis with a double-wishbone front suspension and a four-link rear suspension, giving it the structural toughness Land Cruiser owners expect without sacrificing everyday comfort. Active Traction Control System (A-TRC) comes standard across both variants.
In terms of size, both variants measure 4,610mm long and 1,855mm wide, riding on a 2,580mm wheelbase with 245mm of ground clearance. The TX stands 1,890mm tall, while the VX is slightly taller at 1,950mm.
Two Variants, One Rugged Foundation
Toyota is positioning the Land Cruiser FJ as an accessible entry point into the Land Cruiser lineup. It comes in two trims: the 2.7L TX A/T and the 2.7L VX A/T, part of Toyota’s broader multi-pathway approach to giving customers options suited to different lifestyles.
The TX is built for buyers who want a straightforward, capable 4×4. It comes standard with 17-inch steel wheels, LED lighting, a 9-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, synthetic leather seats with manual adjustments, and physical controls for key functions, including a lever parking brake and a rotary selector for four-wheel-drive modes.
The VX steps things up for buyers who want more comfort, technology, and safety. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, side steps, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather shift knob, and a Panoramic View Monitor. It also comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes a Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and Automatic High Beam.
Buyers can choose from five colors: Smoky Blue, Oxide Bronze Mica, Ash, Attitude Black Mica, and Platinum White Pearl Mica PC.
