Football: Premier League may resume June 1st
The English Premier League may return to action on June 1st after months of halting play due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That is after England lifted its coronavirus lockdown and its government published guidelines for the post-lockdown scene, according to a report.
The government have published a 50-page document for lifting the coronavirus-enforced lockdown in England which could see the Premier League restart on June 1.
A guide for exiting the lockdown was released on Monday afternoon, with social distancing measures to remain in place as various activities are resumed across the country.
Step two of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s “roadmap” clears the way for the current football season get back underway next month, with all remaining fixtures set to be played behind closed doors until public safety can be guaranteed.
All remaining matches will be played behind closed doors for safety purposes, until a vaccine perhaps has been discovered.
Many notable personalities tested positive for COVID-19 amidst the season suspension, including Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Liverpool leads the current Premier League table by a mile with 82 points, having won 27 matches of 29.
They are followed by Manchester City’s 57 and Leicester’s 53.
