COVID-19: PBA suspends all games, activities indefinitely

The PBA on Wednesday announced that all games of the 2020 season, including PBA D-League Aspirants Cup games and the upcoming 3×3 inaugural tournament, as well as related activities, will be suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the country.

The decision was made after the Board of Governors met on Tuesday. As of posting time, there are already 35 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country according to the Department of Health.

Most patients who contracted the disease reside in Metro Manila, where the PBA holds most of its games for both the professional tournament and the D-League level.

At first, the league mulled playing games closed doors aside from suspending them.

The 2020 PBA Season opened just this Sunday.

San Miguel Beermen center June Mar Fajardo won a historic and unprecedented 6th straight Most Valuable Player award.

The Beermen then beat the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok, 94-78 behind Mo Tautuaa’s double-double performance of 20 points and 11 rebounds.
