Gilas Pilipinas: Ravena brothers, Isaac Go headline Final 12 vs Indonesia
Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena will join forces for Gilas Pilipinas as the men’s national team unveiled its final 12 roster for its upcoming game against Indonesia in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers on February 23.
Making it to the final line-up are a mix of tested pros, PBA rookies, and amateur star players.
Aside from the Ravena brothers, Isaac Go, Matt Nieto, Juan Gomez de Liano, Dwight Ramos, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Abu Tratter, Poy Erram, CJ Perez, and late addition Justin Chua made it to the 12-man roster.
The Philippines will battle Indonesia in an away game on February 23 as part of the 1st window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifiers.
Gilas was originally supposed to have a home game on February 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena against Thailand, but FIBA decided to postpone the game last week, citing concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak.
Chua is perhaps the surprise pick in the line-up to be coached by Mark Dickel, as he was a late addition to the pool.
With June Mar Fajardo’s injury and other frontliners like Christian Standhardinger, Mac Belo, and Japeth Aguilar all begging off from the pool, the burly 6-foot-4 big man proved to be a good fit for the roster.
