2018 SEAYBST A Huge Success
The 2018 Southeast Asian Youth Baseball Softball Tournament (SEABYST) was recently held at the Villages, Global Clark.
This year’s SEAYBST was hosted by the International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM), the community organization spearheading Baseball and Softball’s return to the Philippines.
“This was one of the biggest SEAYBST tournaments in recent history!” said Nana Guzman, this year’s Tournament Director.
“We were extremely happy that teams as far as Dubai and Doha participated in this year’s 4-day tournament,” said ILLAM-President Bing Tionloc.
SEABYST is a highly-competitive tournament, and players must try out and be selected to make their respective teams. Teams generally consist of up to 14 players, inclusive of reserves.
Traditionally, SEAYBST is hosted annually on a rotating basis by one of five participating cities: Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore and Perth. This year’s tournament was held at The Villages, Global Clark, home to Clark International Sports Complex. Among the participating cities included: Perth, Pampanga, Pasig, Jakarta, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Doha, and Manila.
The competition took place from March 25 to 28, 2018 where teams played round-robin and playoff games. Award ceremonies capped the tournament on the final night.
“It was an enormous boost to this Region’s tourism efforts,” said Lillian Urbina, ILLAM-VP who was tasked with coordinating logistics and hotel bookings for more than 500 delegates.
SEAYBST was backed by New Ventures Group, Vitarich, Animal Science, Smart, Phoenix Publishing House and Clark Water.
