Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling urged swift disaster assistance across affected provinces. Regional housing offices immediately mobilized to protect vulnerable households throughout designated flood zones.
Massive Financial Lifeline Protects Flood-Stricken Communities
Running through September 28, the payment freeze spans six major regions across Central Luzon and Metro Manila. Over 54,000 member-beneficiaries across 400 community associations qualify for immediate relief.
The initiative delivers over ₱23.4 million in direct housing assistance to hard-hit families. Covered provinces include Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, and the National Capital Region.
SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa stated that easing financial pressure remains the agency’s primary mission. “Hangad po naming makatulong sa ating mga kababayan,” Laxa shared during the policy announcement.
Laxa emphasized that families need breathing room to rebuild their damaged homes and restore daily livelihoods. Suspending payment schedules ensures storm victims can focus on purchasing basic survival essentials first.
SHFC Expands Emergency Debt Relief Across Calamity Zones
This major intervention builds directly on emergency programs deployed during previous severe weather outbreaks. A prior moratorium provided ₱5.3 million in relief to over 90 community groups.
Earlier relief successfully protected vulnerable residents across Rizal, Cavite, and Central Luzon. Expanding the program ensures continuous support as successive monsoon systems hit agricultural hubs.
All penalty charges and interest fees are suspended during the payment deferment period. Affected homeowners should contact local SHFC branch offices immediately to process their account relief.
