SHFC, DHSUD deliver P9 million housing aid to Valenzuela families
The Social Housing Finance Corporation, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, delivered more than P9 million in housing assistance to 58 families in Barangay Parada, bringing long-awaited land security and renewed hope to residents through the Marcos administration’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa, and Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian led the ceremonial turnover of financial assistance to the Bagong Pag-asa Neighborhood Association of Parada, Inc. The support covers land acquisition payments, documentary stamp taxes, mortgage-related obligations, and transfer taxes to help beneficiaries secure legal homeownership.

The initiative, implemented under SHFC’s Enhanced Community Mortgage Program, reflects the government’s intensified effort to provide organized communities with sustainable housing opportunities while ensuring long-term land tenure and social stability.
Housing support expands
Laxa emphasized that the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program continues to serve as a vital mechanism for helping Filipino families gradually realize their dream of owning land and decent housing. Through the broader Expanded 4PH framework, the program seeks to make affordable homeownership more accessible to underserved communities nationwide.
The assistance provided in Valenzuela represents more than financial support, as it directly addresses decades of insecurity faced by families who have lived without stable land ownership. By securing legal rights to their property, beneficiaries gain stronger protection and improved long-term economic security.
Secretary Aliling also reinforced the Marcos administration’s broader commitment to accelerating the rollout of expanded housing programs nationwide. The initiative aligns with national development priorities aimed at addressing the country’s housing backlog through inclusive and community-centered solutions.
Families gain stability
Mayor Gatchalian expressed gratitude for the national government’s continued investment in Valenzuela residents, describing the assistance as a transformative step for families who have waited years for stable housing solutions. Local leaders view the project as a critical milestone in uplifting vulnerable communities.
Bagong Pag-asa Neighborhood Association President Elmer Rivera likewise thanked government agencies for helping residents move closer to achieving secure homeownership after roughly 30 years of uncertainty. For many families, the assistance marks the fulfillment of a long-standing dream.
Since the launch of the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program in July 2025, SHFC has approved 45 projects benefiting more than 7,700 families across the country. With 18 communities already receiving land acquisition assistance, the program continues expanding its role in building sustainable and dignified housing opportunities for Filipinos.
