LG brings back the Wallpaper TV as wireless OLED takes center stage at CES 2026

LG Electronics used CES 2026 in Las Vegas to signal a shift in how premium televisions are meant to exist inside the home, reintroducing its Wallpaper TV concept as a wireless OLED display rather than a conventional screen. The OLED evo W6 leads LG’s 2026 lineup, anchoring the company’s strategy around minimal physical presence paired with maximum visual impact.

Rather than framing the TV as a piece of hardware, LG positioned the new Wallpaper model as part of the room itself, enabled by an ultra-thin body and the removal of visible cable connections. The launch also coincides with LG marking 13 consecutive years at the top of the OLED TV category.

The OLED evo W6 returns to the Wallpaper design language first introduced in 2017, but with a fully redesigned internal structure that reduces thickness to a nine-millimeter-class profile. A new wall-mount system allows the display to sit flat from edge to edge, eliminating gaps that traditionally separate screens from walls.

All physical connections are relocated to LG’s Zero Connect Box, which can be placed up to 10 meters away from the display. LG said this wireless configuration enables lossless transmission of 4K video and audio while preserving the extreme thinness that defines the Wallpaper TV.

Brighter OLED without visual compromises

LG paired the return of the Wallpaper TV with its latest picture advancement, Hyper Radiant Color Technology, which raises brightness levels while maintaining OLED’s signature contrast and color accuracy. The company said the OLED evo W6 can reach up to 3.9 times the brightness of conventional OLED displays.

To support this increase, LG engineered a new low-reflection screen designed to perform consistently in bright rooms. The panel earned Reflection Free Premium certification, allowing deep blacks and accurate colors to remain visible even under strong ambient lighting.

Powering the display is LG’s α11 AI Processor Gen3, featuring a significantly more capable neural processing unit. Its Dual AI Engine applies parallel image analysis to reduce noise and preserve natural textures at the same time, avoiding the artificial sharpness often associated with aggressive processing.

LG said these changes allow the Wallpaper TV to deliver flagship image quality without requiring controlled lighting conditions, expanding where and how OLED displays can be used.

Gaming, personalization and AI-driven viewing

Beyond picture quality, LG emphasized performance and personalization across its 2026 OLED evo range. The Wallpaper TV supports 4K resolution at up to 165Hz, along with NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium and ultra-low response times aimed at high-end gaming.

The webOS platform adds user recognition through Voice ID, allowing the TV to switch profiles automatically based on who is speaking. Personalized home screens load individual apps, widgets and recommendations without manual selection.

LG also integrated multiple AI systems, including Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, enabling users to ask questions, explore content and access contextual information during viewing. Features such as “In This Scene” provide cast details and related content without interrupting playback.

Complementing the hardware is LG Gallery+, which transforms the display into a customizable design element using curated visuals, personal photos and AI-generated imagery paired with ambient audio. LG said the service is designed to make the TV a functional part of interior design rather than a dormant black screen.

All personalization and AI features are secured by LG Shield, which encrypts user data and protects viewing behavior. LG said this ensures advanced customization does not come at the expense of privacy.

LG Media Entertainment Solution Company president Park Hyoung-sei said the Wallpaper TV reflects the convergence of LG’s wireless technology, industrial design and long-term OLED development. He added that the company’s goal is to define what premium OLED TVs should look and feel like in everyday living spaces.

LG is showcasing the OLED evo W6 and its 2026 OLED lineup at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Jan. 6 to 9.
