More than 400 families in Isabela and Cagayan provinces and Zamboanga City are set to benefit from newly approved housing loans under the Social Housing Finance Corporation’s Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).

The applications of Plaridel Village CMP Homeowners’ Association, Inc. in Santiago, Isabela; Ibay’s CMP HOAI in Solana, Cagayan; and Maria Navarro HOAI in Zamboanga City were approved on Sept. 25 by SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa and members of the agency’s Credit Committee.

Supporting government’s housing push

The projects form part of the Marcos administration’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program under the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). Laxa said SHFC is committed to rolling out 34 ECMP projects pledged to DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling.

“SHFC will continue to push forward with the 34 ECMP projects we committed to Secretary Aliling to help more Filipino families achieve affordable and secure housing,” Laxa said. “These projects reflect our dedication to fast-track the implementation of pro-poor and people-centered shelter solutions.”

The Credit Committee also cleared an additional loan for site upgrading at Pinag-isang Magkakapitbahay ng Miranda Compound HOAI Phases I to III in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

Expanding reach nationwide

To date, SHFC has approved 22 ECMP projects across the country, covering more than 3,800 families. The agency is also targeting the awarding of lots to an initial 5,000 beneficiaries by October.

Unlike traditional mortgage programs, the ECMP includes components such as water and electricity access, drainage systems, and livelihood training to help families sustain their communities.

Other projects approved under the program include Seattohills Neighborhood Association Inc. and Pagkakaisang Maralita ng Antipolo HOAI Ph. 2 in Rizal; Msgr. Eddie L. Eleazar Village HOAI in Quezon; Don Vicente Villas HOAI Ph. 8 in Laguna; San Roque Block 7 Resettlement HOAI in Tarlac; Mirasol Village HOAI in Iloilo City; and Ylagan Ville HOAI Ph. 1 in Oriental Mindoro.

Communities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces also received approval, including Centennial Sunrise HOAI, Villa Soledad HOAI, and Megaville 2 HOAI in Pasig City; Wawangpulo HOAI Ph. 1 in Valenzuela City; and Pagkamoot Village 1 and 2 HOAI and Ilaw Village HOAI in the Bicol Region.
