Postal 2 Redux revealed as Flat2VR, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors resurrect cult shooter

Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors have officially announced Postal 2 Redux—a complete rebuild of the 2003 cult open-world shooter using the Unity engine. Far beyond a visual remaster, this edition reimagines every moment of the original with sharper textures, new features, and full platform support.

The Redux began when Team Beef dissected the original to create a VR version and discovered an opportunity to overhaul two decades of aging code. Rather than apply a superficial upgrade, Flat2VR Studios partnered with Running With Scissors to fully reconstruct Paradise while retaining every absurd, controversial detail that made the original a phenomenon.

Why this isn’t just a visual remaster

Postal 2 Redux introduces high-res textures, dynamic lighting, and an open, load-free streaming world. Civilians now have smarter behavior, making every riot more chaotic. Weapons have been rebuilt for tactile impact with brutal dismemberment and improved physics. Indoor environments are also more destructible than ever, and the iconic dog Champ is back with more features and screen time.

Paradise itself evolves through the in-game day with ambient lighting shifts and physics-driven clutter across every alley and storefront. The arsenal, humor, and chaos are dialed up with new items and upgraded mechanics—all still true to the game’s legacy of unfiltered gameplay.

Platform support and campaign launch

Postal 2 Redux targets all major modern systems including PC, macOS, Linux, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A pre-launch Kickstarter campaign opens June 12, 2025, giving fans the chance to support development and receive exclusive rewards—including becoming an in-game character.

“This isn’t just a port; it’s a resurrection,” said Flat2VR COO Eric Masher. “We’re arming a new generation with shovels and letting them loose in Paradise.”

With everything from AI-upgraded crowds to over-the-top physics, Postal 2 Redux aims to be the definitive edition of the game. As Running With Scissors founder Vince Desi bluntly put it, “We’re doing two out of three things fans asked for: fixing crashes and adding modern graphics. As for the dogs—no promises.”
