The global image consulting industry is booming, and this was on full display at the recently concluded Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Global Conference held from April 24-27 at the Makati Shangri-La Manila. With the current market valued at $4.5 million and projected to reach $7.32 billion by 2032 at a 7.2% annual growth rate, according to The Image Educator, the event underscored the growing influence of image professionals worldwide.

This year’s event, themed “Weaving the Future: Global Collaborations for Breakthrough Innovations,” was a milestone as it marked the first time the AICI global conference was held in Asia, following the 2023 edition in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Over 240 professional image consultants from 38 countries including the USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil, and the Philippines, gathered to explore the dynamic world of image management. The conference was led by Olen Juarez-Lim, president of OJL Consulting Group and a pioneering image consultant in the Philippines. Lim, the 22nd president of AICI, made history as the first Asian and Filipina to lead the organization.

The conference emphasized how holistic personal branding—encompassing communication skills, self-projection, digital presence, and online reputation—has become essential in gaining a competitive edge in today’s corporate, entertainment, political, and marketing landscapes.

Participants engaged in over 40 sessions that covered key areas including fashion styling, etiquette, corporate image, executive coaching, digital branding, and new technologies shaping the profession. Notable speakers included Paulo Tibig, motivational speaker and global entrepreneur; Amber Renae, digital entrepreneur and TV personality; Kara Finney, a relational skills expert; and Bea Valdes, Vogue editor.

Attendees also immersed themselves in Filipino culture through side events that celebrated local fashion, music, food, and festivals, adding a rich cultural layer to the professional exchange.

“The conference was a great exchange of knowledge, networking and good vibes across cultures,” said Juarez-Lim. “It let our local image consultants gain international recognition and experience. Most of all, we are proud and happy to have welcomed everyone to Manila and let them experience our rich culture.”

Founded in 1990, AICI now has 38 chapters and members in over 60 countries, establishing itself as the leading global association for professional image consultants.
