The Rising Stars of PPOP: Bilib Wins New Male Artist of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards
Bilib, a dynamic seven-member PPOP boy group, has been awarded New Male Artist of the Year at the 16th PMPC Star Awards. Their win for the debut single “Kabanata” solidifies their place as one of the most exciting emerging acts in the Philippine music industry. With immense talent and a powerful mission, Bilib is a name to watch in PPOP.
Bilib’s name, derived from their mantra “Becoming, Limitless, Beyond,” reflects the group’s vision of pushing boundaries and creating meaningful music. Launched under AQ Prime Music, they debuted on July 7, 2023, with the powerful and reflective single “Kabanata,” which translates to “chapter” in Tagalog. The group’s members—Yukito, Zio, JMAC, RC, Clyde, Carlo, and Rafael—each bring unique energy and charm, aiming to inspire fans to unlock their potential and reach for their dreams.
Expressing their gratitude during the awards ceremony, member Yukito said, “This award is not just for us but for all our fans who have supported us every step of the way. We promise to continue working hard and delivering music that inspires and uplifts.”
Beyond delivering powerful performances, Bilib strives to represent a new wave of dreamers who are passionate about their journey and stories. Their mission also emphasizes fostering a supportive PPOP community that shares a common goal: raising the genre to new heights locally and internationally.
In a short span, Bilib has already performed on significant stages such as PPOP Fest 2024, SBtown Music Fiesta, and Miss World Philippines 2024. Their television appearances on GMA All Out Sundays and Wish Bus have further cemented their rising popularity. The group has already won several awards, including the Asia’s Pinnacle Award for Asia’s Rising PPOP Group, 8th PPOP Awards for New PPOP Boy Group of the Year, and now New Male Group Artist of the Year at the PMPC 16th Star Awards.
Their latest single, “Say What You Wanna Say,” stands as an anthem of empowerment, encouraging listeners to speak up and be true to themselves. It also serves as the official soundtrack for AFA Entertainment’s film Believe It or Not, which addresses themes of bullying, friendship, and family, resonating deeply with their audience.
Though new, Bilib is committed to growing as artists, releasing meaningful songs, and becoming a group that Filipinos can take pride in. For their fans, fondly called Bituin (meaning “star”), Bilib is already on a path to stardom, inspiring fans across the Philippines and beyond.
