NBA: Danny Green optimistic season will continue in May
Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green expressed optimism regarding the 2020 NBA season, saying it is probable the league resumes its games starting in May.
Talking in a video posted in his Inside The Green Room podcast page, the Lakers sharpshooter mentioned that a recent league-wide meeting made him feel there is a big possibility the suspended season will be “salvaged.”
“We’re for sure going to have a season. It’s probably going to start mid-to-late May. And it’ll probably go through August, latest September.”
Green is the representative of the NBA Players Association in the said meeting.
The NBA suspended its season last March due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. A couple of notable players have tested positive for the virus then, but have recovered since.
It will for sure not be an easy logistical task for the NBA when the season resumes, which will also have to push back key events like the Summer League, Draft, and the upcoming next season.
His Lakers are currently on top of the Western Conference standings with a 49-14 record, a good 5.5 games ahead of the nearest competitor in the Los Angeles Clippers (44-20).
