Tennis: Wimbledon postponed over coronavirus, moved to 2021
The 134th edition of the Wimbledon, which was scheduled to start on June 29, 2020, has been postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
It is the first time the event has been cancelled since World War II.
The Championships announced the development Wednesday, citing public health concerns over the coronavirus, which is now nearing a million cases worldwide.
It is with great regret that the AELTC has today decided that The Championships 2020 will be cancelled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus epidemic.
The 134th Championships will instead be staged from 28 June to 11 July 2021.https://t.co/c0QV2ymGAt

“We believe, given the measure of this global crisis, that it is ultimately the right decision to cancel The Championships 2020 and instead concentrate on how we can use the breadth of our resources to help those in our local communities and beyond”

The Championships will instead be played from June 28, 2021 to July 11, 2021.
On its official Twitter account, the Wimbledon also took into consideration the safety of everyone involved in the prestigious tennis event, including staff workers, volunteers, players, and the general public.
Fans who have already purchased tickets may ask for a refund or watch next year for the same match days and seats.
