Alab Pilipinas: Justin Brownlee returns, John Fields added to line-up
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas made major changes in its roster once again, this time bringing in prolific import Justin Brownlee and John Fields to bolster their roster for the on-going 2019-2020 ASEAN Basketball League season.
After talks that Brownlee was ready for a return trip to Alab, the 2018 ABL champion and 4-time PBA champion with Barangay Ginebra will finally suit up for the Filipino club team once again.
Brownlee will replace Khalif Wyatt in the Alab line-up.
Head coach Jimmy Alapag’s team has also tapped the services of 6-foot-8 big man John Fields, effectively letting go of 7-foot-4 giant Sam Deguara in the process.
Fields already has ABL experience, having played for the Singapore Slingers. He has even suited up for the Columbian Dyip in the PBA.
Brownlee, who led Alab to the ABL title in 2018 with Renaldo Balkman serving as a co-import, was supposed to arrive last week, although flight problems delayed his return.
Alab has been relatively inconsistent in their last few contests, winning only 2 of the last 4 and splitting the two games they played when they were undermanned.
The squad has a 10-6 record in the team standings, good for 2nd place and just 2 games behind the league-leading Mono Vampire.
