NBA: Reggie Jackson to sign with LA Clippers after Pistons buyout

Veteran NBA guard Reggie Jackson will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers following a buyout with the Detroit Pistons.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi first reported about the development, adding that the Clippers emerged as front-runners to sign the 29-year-old playmaker.

Jackson averaged 14.9 PPG and 5.1 APG in 14 games for the Pistons this season, including 10 starts. He is also shooting a career-high 37.8% clip from 3-point area.

The 6-foot-3 guard played 5 and a half seasons with Detroit.

His addition to the Clippers gives the Western Conference contenders another back-up scorer and playmaking option.

The Clippers are currently in 3rd spot in the West with a 37-18 record, just behind the conference-leading Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.

Initially, the Clippers and Lakers both wanted to sign Darren Collison, who was rumored to be coming out of retirement.

But the former Indiana Pacer decided to remain retired from the NBA.
