Gilas Pilipinas: Munzon, Pasaol, Perez, Tautuaa in FIBA 3×3 OQT line-up
Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Mo Tautuaa, and CJ Perez banner the Philippine team that will vie for a 3×3 Olympic slot through the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament slated for March.
Munzon is the no. 1 3×3 player in the Philippines by way of the FIBA 3×3 ranking points.
He and Pasaol have famously played for the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 circuit in the past year and a half, even playing overseas in FIBA 3×3 tournaments.
Tautuaa and Perez, meanwhile, were both part of the gold-medal winning team in the Southeast Asian Games 2019 3×3 basketball wars.
The two joined hands with Jason Perkins and Chris Newsome, handing the Philippines one of 4 gold medals in the basketball discipline.
Gilas is in Pool C of the FIBA 3×3 OQT, along with Slovenia, France, Qatar, and the Dominican Republic.
The Philippines will face a daunting task as only the top 2 teams from each pool advance to the quarter-finals. Only the top 3 nations of the tournament will make it to the 1st-ever 3×3 Olympic basketball event in Tokyo later this year.
