‘Lucifer’ Season 6 Under Negotiations To Return After Season 5 Cancellation

The Netflix supernatural drama series “Lucifer” might get uncancelled. Sources reveal that discussions are ongoing to bring the show back after the streaming platform announced that season 5 will be its final run.

Deadline reported that Warner Bros. TV and Netflix are negotiating the return of “Lucifer” after the show remains high on demand from subscribers. Weekly releases from Parrot Analytics’ reveal that the drama is consistently on the top spot of the viewing list for many months since the fourth season came out.

Netflix revived “Lucifer” after Fox canceled the show in 2018. The fourth season dropped in May 2019 and became an instant hit. Netflix further renewed the series for a fifth and final season.

“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” series executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said following the renewal announcement. “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”

“Lucifer” is loosely based on a DC comic series, was written by Neil Gaiman, which follows the devil, the Lord of Hell, as he moves to Los Angeles after abandoning his kingdom in Hell. The story is a spinoff to Gaiman’s “The Sandman.”

The TV show stars Tom Ellis as the titular character, along with Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez and Kevin Alejandro.

Filming for “Lucifer” season 5 begun in September 2019 for a 13-episode run. The first half of the fifth season is due to be released this year on Netflix and the second half is expected to be on the streaming platform the following year.
