PBA: June Mar Fajardo out for PH Cup after serious injury
San Miguel Beer’s drive for a 6th straight PBA Philippine Cup title suffered a huge blow as main man June Mar Fajardo sustained a serious injury in practice Monday.
In an online report citing team sources, the reigning 5-time PBA season MVP is said to have injured his shin in Beermen practice. The same body part has been injured two years ago.
There is no timetable and the extent of the injury is also unconfirmed yet. However, the said sources believe the injury is catastrophic enough to force Fajardo out for at least the all-Filipino conference.
The 6-foot-10 Fajardo has been an unstoppable force in the last 5 years, delivering titles to the Beermen franchise.
Along with his teammates Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter, and Chris Ross, Fajardo is part of the San Miguel “super 5” line-up that has been virtually unbeatable in the league.
San Miguel’s 5 straight Philippine Cup titles is already a historic accomplishment, but with the unfortunate development and the rest of the squad also aging, the upcoming 2020 PBA season looks to be a wide-open race.
