NBA Trade Rumors: Cavs willing to shop Tristan Thompson
As the NBA trade deadline continues to near, the Cleveland Cavaliers have made Tristan Thompson available for trade talks, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.
The Cavaliers have had a dismal campaign this season, 2 years removed from LeBron James’ 2nd tenure.
The 2016 champions have plummeted to 13-38 in the Eastern Conference, now tied for the worst record along with the Atlanta Hawks.
But the 6-foot-9 Thompson has been a positive for the squad, with double-double averages of 11.9 PPG and 10.4 RPG while shooting above 50% from the field for the 6th season in a row.
The 28-year-old bruiser even registered a career-high in points, scoring 35 earlier this season.
Though Thompson has a pricey contract deal, he may still be able to attract contending teams having troubles filling the gap at the center position, like the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers.
Thompson played a key role as starter for the Cavaliers’ 2016 championship-winning squad, providing the interior defense, rebounding, and a solid pick and roll option.
