Rosario hopes Gilas’ bad 2019 FIBA World Cup experience doesn’t happen again
After a disappointing showing in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, Gilas Pilipinas Men forward Troy Rosario admitted he does not want the same thing happening in the future.
“Sana hindi na maulit yung ganoong nangyari sa atin na natalo ng limang games,” said the TNT KaTropa power forward.
The Philippines lost all 5 of their games by an average margin of 29.4 points, and it included 40- and 50-point blowouts at the hands of European powerhouse teams.
Rosario hopes that come 2023 where the nationals will host the World Cup, the preparation would be even longer and that the pool would also be big to be able to put the best team possible in front of the home crowd.
“Sana yung preparation for 2023, mas maganda na. Sana yung mga players, mas marami yung pool para mas maganda,” he said. “Yung preparation, yung players, mas maraming pagpipilian, mas maganda.”
Rosario has been a senior men’s national team player since 2015, and was in the final line-up for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
