Gilas Pilipinas: Robert Bolick to respect Guiao Final 12 decision

Gilas Pilipinas newcomer Robert Bolick said he will be ready to help in whatever capacity for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup, whether he makes the final roster or not.

The NorthPort Batang Pier rookie has shown encouraging signs throughout Gilas’ recent training camp in Spain where he was one of the scoring leaders, making a case to make the final 12 for the World Cup.

But the former San Beda Red Lion said he doesn’t mind if he won’t be part of the competing roster for the upcoming international competition.

“Sa akin naman, mapili o hindi, I am here to help the team the best way I can,” said Bolcik.

“Mapili man ako, syempre pinagtrabahuhan ko. Kung hindi mapili, siguro naman kasama kami, so tutulong kami sa team, preparation, scouting ng kalaban, ganoon sa team eh.”

Bolick was among those responsible for transforming the Batang Pier into a better squad, helping his mother team to a franchise-record 9-2 elimination round record in the recently-concluded PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

His brilliant showing in the mid-season conference, along with the untimely injury of Marcio Lassiter, were among the reasons he got an invite to the World Cup team pool.

“Kailangan magtulungan kami dito. Whoever Coach Yeng (Guiao) puts, we have to respect his decision. wag na tayo mag-away away,” explained Bolick.

“It’s time to support kung sino man ang nandoon sa position na yun. Magdecide siya ng ganoon, we will support him. Suportahan ko lang talaga sila. Pero di pa naman tapos so I will keep on improving every day and mina-maximize ko lang ung time na nakakasama ko sila.”
