FIBA WC: Andray Blatche working out with Rain or Shine, NLEX
Naturalized Gilas Pilipinas men’s national team center Andray Blatche has been speeding up his return to top form, working out with PBA club Rain or Shine while also scheduling a training session with the NLEX Road Warriors.
According to an online source, Blatche is familiarizing himself with Gilas schemes.
Head coach Yeng Guiao has been a long-time mentor of the Elasto Painters, leading them to 2 PBA titles.
Blatche is also scheduled to attend a training session of the Road Warriors, where Guiao is currently the chief mentor, soon.
The Road Warriors were eliminated in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup but are trying to prepare early for the season-ending Governors’ Cup which shall commence after the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Blatche, who played in the 2014 edition of the international meet, is one of 19 players in the pool to be submitted to FIBA.
Also in the pool are Jordan Clarkson, Christian Standhardinger, Stanley Pringle, Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Raymond Almazan, Poy Erram, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Matthew Wright, Marcio Lassiter, CJ Perez, Robert Bolick, Kiefer Ravena, Mark Barroca, and Paul Lee.
Gilas will play Serbia, Italy, and Angola in Group D of the World Cup elimination round.
