WATCH: Robert Bolick on latest game-winning moment
Robert Bolick helped the NorthPort Batang Pier overcome a double-digit 2nd half deficit by sinking a game-winning lay-up with 4 seconds to go to give his squad a pulsating 93-92 victory over the Meralco Bolts on Friday night.
Coming off a sideline inbounds play, Bolick received the ball and drove past the defense of Cliff Hodge for the relatively easy lay-in.
With the win, NorthPort finished with their best record elimination round-wise, at 9-2 and assuring themselves of the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarter-finals.
Bolick finished with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in the historic game for NorthPort’s franchise.
Asked about his latest game-winning moment in his young PBA career, Bolick shared that he only wanted to help his team.
“Ito yung mga moments na as a player gusto mong makatulong. Sa akin lang, I took the opportunity to take the last shot,” said Bolick.
NorthPort paced its players knowing that the team had nothing to lose. But still, the Batang Pier were competitive about it, and closed out the game with an extra W.
“Everybody played great kahit limited minutes lang, naglalaro kami ng maayos. Gusto lang namin manalo. Ito yung stepping stone namin sa playoffs e,” added Bolick, who said the win should boost their momentum heading into the playoffs.
“We will just prepare. Just stay focused. Ito na yan eh, hindi na namin pakakawalan ‘to and hopefully maka-semis kami,” he said.
