UAAP football: Gayoso lifts Ateneo over Adamson

Jarvey Gayoso became the league’s top goalscorer as Ateneo overwhelmed Adamson University, 7-1, Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch.

Gayoso produced a hat-trick to increase his total to seven, leapfrogging past his teammate Rupert Baña who has six.

Jeremiah️ Rocha, Julian️ Roxas, Mark️ Nacional and substitute Jabez Setters were also on target for the Blue Eagles, who now have 16 points.

Ateneo then snatched the top of the table as University of Santo Tomas dealt Far Eastern University its second straight defeat with a 1-0 win.

Defending champion University of the Philippines later joined De La Salle in fourth place with 13 points following a 2-0 victory.

Alijreh Fuchigami’s second-half header over goalkeeper Dave Parac was enough for the Growling Tigers to moved up to third place with 14 points, one off the second-running Tamaraws.

Karl Bugayong put the Fighting Maroons just seven minutes after the opening whistle, before King Miyagi double his team’s lead with a 51st minute strike.

The Falcons stayed at the near bottom of the table with eight points.
