Araneta Center is taking part in the worldwide initiative of switching lights off during Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 24, Saturday.

Various establishments around Araneta Center will turn off non-essential lights, proving the Center’s commitment to taking care of the planet.

In switching the lights off, Araneta Center and other participants are shedding light on the role of individuals, corporations, influencers and leaders in saving the environment from further damage. What used to be a symbolic activity, Earth Hour has evolved into one of the most simple yet most effective movements to raise awareness on climate change.

This year, Earth Hour wants everyone to #Connect2Earth, a move which encourages the public to use the power of social media in turning focus on protecting biodiversity in the planet.

Musical performers will liven up the Gateway Mall and Ali Mall during the time of the switch-off. The public can also share their pledge to help protect the environment in commitment walls placed in Gateway Mall, Ali Mall and Farmers Plaza. The Earth Hour Bazaar which runs from March 23 to March 25 at the Ali Mall, also puts the spotlight on earth-friendly products.

Novotel Manila Araneta Center , on the other hand, will serve up a party to coincide with the celebration of Earth Hour. While the lights are off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. guests can enjoy local beers for only P60 at the 6th Pool Bar and Lounge.
