‘Supergirl’ Season 3: Stage set for ‘Sanvers’ breakup
Seeds of an anticipated exit by Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) from “Supergirl” have started following that final scene in the episode “The Faithful.”
Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) broke down when she along with Kara Danvers/ Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) attended school event alongside Samantha Arias (Odette Anable). It was after Ruby Arias (Emma Tremblay) rendered the song “Pure Imagination” that Alex admitted to Kara that she had to break up with Maggie. For those who missed it, below is the video of Ruby’s song.
As mentioned in a previous post, the problem between the two is tied up to differing takes on parenthood. Maggie is not too thrilled to have kids and apparently, Alex wants to experience being a mother.
Initially, most thought that the breakup would stem from the fact that Maggie’s dad, Oscar Rodas (Carlos Bernard) would not approve. While the reunion between Oscar and Maggie did not turn out well, it turns out that the conflicting outlook on being a parent will be the reason behind the breakup.
For those who are still unaware, Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Lima’s decision to move on, EW reported. However, Lima will still make occasional appearances though “Supergirl” fans are expected to keep track of the “Sanvers” romance.
This is one scene “Supergirl” followers are expected to follow, starting in episode 5 titled “Damage.” Ironically, a synopsis of the episode reads that this episode will have multiple children getting sick from lead poisoning. Morgan Edge (guest star Adrian Pasdar) will pin the blame on Lena Luthor for that lead bomb made to save National City from the Daxamites.
Aside from that, Alex and Maggie will reportedly make a crucial decision on the future of their relationship on this episode. “Supergirl” returns this Monday on The CW. Check out the promo trailer for that episode below.
