Tom Hardy The Next James Bond? ‘Taboo’ Star Sparks Rumors After Saying He Wants The Part Under Director Christopher Nolan
Tom Hardy is gunning for the role of James Bond. The “Taboo” star, whose new TV series debut this week, reveals that he’s interested in playing the part of Christopher Nolan is the director of the new movie.
Speaking with Daily Beast, the actor said that he thinks its going to be powerful to have Nolan direct the a Bond film. But he also credits director Sam Mendes for the work he has done so far with current Bond actor Daniel Craig.
He also wants to keep mum about casting talks because of one interesting fact about picking out the next James Bond. “There’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one!” the actor said.
Tom Hardy is one of a dozen names that has been thrown into the list of potential replacements for Craig. The latter has expressed in previous interviews that he would like to retire after doing five Bond movies.
Also in contention are Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hiddleston. The latter was in fact rumored to have with producer Barbara Broccoli last year perhaps in a bid to win the part, but nothing came out of it just yet.
