‘This Is Us’ Star Mandy Moore Doesn’t Want A Traditional Family

On television, Mandy Moore plays the matriarch of a non-traditional family. She has a boy and a girl who are twins, and she has an adopted African-American baby. All of her children were born on the same day, which is part of what makes “This is Us” a compelling show.

But in real life, Mandy Moore’s own family is just as non-traditional. “I’ve never really talked about this but my parents are divorced. My mother left my father for a woman. And both of my two brothers are gay,” the actress said.

Growing up, the actress said that she thought getting married would give her life some normalcy, but she ended divorcing her first husband Ryan Adams. Now she doesn’t feel the pressure to have a traditional family. She learned that it doesn’t having a happy family life doesn’t have to follow the traditional standard.

“[Now my family is] exactly where they should be. Everyone’s so much happier, richer, and more fulfilled, being their authentic selves.”

Mandy Moore is currently dating Taylor Goldsmith who she says has influenced her into taking vitamins. At 32, the actress said that she is looking forward to aging. “I can’t wait until the day when watching ’60 Minutes’ is perfectly acceptable for my age. The aging process: I say bring it on.”
