BBC America has given its quirky series “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” another season. The show, which had its debut in late October, stars Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett. It is based off the novel written by Douglas Adams.

“Dirk Gently” has been described as an “outlandishly different” series by the BBC. The detective series presents the two lead stars as the classic oddballs and their chemistry works quite well. “Dirk Gently” Season 1 has 10 episodes and airs every weekends on the network. The finale of the debut series is expected to air on Dec. 10 on BBC America.

“Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett), is a serialized comedic thriller that follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric “holistic” detective Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd (Elijah Wood), as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery a season, crossing unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and sometimes dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth,” the BBC America press release stated.

The show was created in cooperation with AMC Studios, IDEATE MEDIA and IDW Entertainment. Max Landis writes the episodes with Robert Cooper as executive producer.

The second season is expected to hit TV in 2017.
