‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Could Be Last As Benedict Cumberbatch Declares It’s ‘An End Of An Era’
Fans have been waiting for the return of “Sherlock” for its fourth season. The last time viewers were able to watch the show was during a special run, which aired in 2015. Now, “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch hints that the upcoming season, which has no confirmed air date just yet, could be its last.
““It feels like the end of an era, to be honest,” revealed the actor via Deadline. He justified that the new season of “Sherlock” will be hard to follow up, hence he believes it might not have another season after the fourth.
However, Cumberbatch isn’t also closing any doors for “Sherlock. “We never say never on the show. I’d love to revisit it, I’d love to keep revisiting it, I stand by that,” he further stated.
Production of “Sherlock” Season 4 almost didn’t happen as the stars of the series, which also includes Martin Freeman as John Watson and Andrew Scott as Moriarty, has become box office international movie stars. Their schedules have become so tight that it took awhile for the cast and crew to start working on Season 3.
“Sherlock” Season 4 has finally finished filming over the summer and now fans are just waiting for the official announcement of when it premieres. Meanwhile, it’s not just Cumberbatch who’s been saying that the fourth season is already the end for the show. Even the show creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat have indicated “Sherlock” Season 4 could be the final run for the series.
