Dutch-Filipino Film Festival Featuring Human Rights Films Opens Today, July 26

Celebrating the Anniversary of 65 years of Diplomatic Relations and 150 years of Consular Ties of the Netherlands and the Philippines, DAKILA, an artist collective organizing the Active Vista Human Rights Film Festival, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, presents a Dutch-Filipino Film Festival showcasing the best of Dutch and Filipino films. Reflecting the strong commitment the two nations share to promote human rights, this festival will inspire sustainable innovations to address the global challenges ahead.

The Dutch-Filipino Film Festival shall open today, July 26, Tuesday, 6:00 pm at the Shang Cineplex, Shangri-la Mall, Mandaluyong City. The Opening Film, THOSE WHO FEEL THE FIRE BURNING by Morgan Knibbe won the Golden Calf Best Documentary Feature at the Nederland Film Festival. The film explores the plight of refugees in Europe. The festival shall run till October and will travel to key regional cities nationwide with screenings in Davao, Iloilo, Cebu and Baguio.

Her Excellency Marion Derckx of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands shall open the Dutch-Filipino Film Festival. The cocktail reception is at 6:00 pm and program starts at 7:00 pm. This by invitation only screening shall be attended by members of the diplomatic community, government, civil society, artists and filmmakers. It will also feature a performance by Tarsius.
