Ben Affleck is starring, writing and directing a new “Batman” movie to follow “Batman Vs. Superman.” In doing the press rounds for “BvS” last March, the actor apparently said that his take will not be based off the comic books. In fact, it will be an original story of Bruce Wayne.

“What I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it,” Ben Affleck said, per Cines Argentinos.  “I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics,” he added.

The actor-director also stated that his “Batman” character will be different. The reason for this? “I don’t want to compete with other incarnations, nor do I want to emulate them. Those versions belong in another universe,” said Affleck via Batman-News.

Several actors have already played Batman, such as Christian Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton. Ben Affleck’s “Batman” has no official title yet and there is no confirmed date for its release as well.
