Pope Francis Makes His Acting Debut in ‘Beyond The Sun’
Pope Francis is appearing in the religious-themed movie “Beyond The Sun.” The pontiff will play himself in a story about a family’s adventure that is rooted from the Gospels.
According to Variety, Pope Francis requested the movie from its filmmakers so that children will be able to know of Jesus’ message. Produced by AMBI Pictures, box office profits of “Beyond The Sun” will be donated to children’s charities in Argentina, where the Pope hails.
Deadline reported that the movie will focus on children in various cultures, as written by Graciela Rodriguez. It is mean to “spiritually engage and encourage audiences of all ages to transmit Jesus’ words, to understand them and integrate them to live a better life, make good choices and help others.” The search for the movie’s director is still on going.
“Our excitement and gratitude toward His Holiness, Pope Francis participating in this film is beyond words,” said Andrea Iervolino of AMBI. “This is not just a movie for us, it’s a message, and who better to have on your side to deliver an important societal and spiritual message than the Pope.”
The film is set to shoot in Italy early this year.
