With only a few more episodes till the finale of “Downton Abbey,” rumors are ripe that the show will be getting a spin-off movie version. But one of the show’s stars is not keen on being part of it.

“I’m glad it’s over, I really am,” said Maggie Smith, who plays the Countess of Grantham during a TV interview on “Graham Norton.” “By the time we finished [the Dowager Countess] must have been about 110. It couldn’t go on and on, it just didn’t make sense,” Smith added, according to Vanity Fair.

Earlier, news that a possible movie version to the much-acclaimed British series surfaced when its creators said in a press conference that they would like to do it. “We would be interested. It’s something that Julian and I have been contemplating and would be a wonderful extension,” said Gareth Neame back in March, via The Hollywood Reporter. “But it would be wrong to say there are any plans. There is nothing firmly in place.”

For her part, Smith said that she asked for “something to happen” to her character for the show’s annual Christmas Special so that the Dowager Countess is sure to never return again.

She also said that she’s relieved the show will be over so that there’s less fan hype pretty soon. Admittedly, the show’s popularity has made the actress avoid certain destinations. “I could go round galleries and things on my own and I just can’t do it now. If someone decides to get at you, you can’t get away,” she said in previous interviews.
