Best-Selling Author Nicholas Sparks To Produce Semi-Autobiographical Comedy Series for ABC
Romantic novelist Nicholas Sparks, whose work include hits like “The Notebook,” “Dear John” and “Message In A Bottle,” is going to produce a comedy series that is loosely based on his own love story. Entitled “The Next Chapter,” the series was pitched by Austin Winsberg (Gossip Girl) to ABC.
“The Next Chapter” follows Ben Diamond, a best-selling romance novelist, who becomes a divorcee and thus starts to wonder about his own personal believes on love as he gets back to dating. Sparks has recently been divorced himself, after 25 years of marriage, and is now living his life as a single man.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Winsberg will be writing the comedy with Warner Bros and Sparks backing him as producers. No further details has been revealed as to when the show is set to air. For now, it’s still in its development stages.
Winsberg has just finished working on “First Date The Musical” on Broadway and is also set to develop a show with ABC Family with the help of Christina Aguilera as producer.
Meanwhile, Sparks has his own TV commitment with other networks as his “The Notebook” is also in development as a TV show for The CW. The story has been a hit in the movies, where it catapulted the careers of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
