‘Preacher’ on AMC Receives Series Order, Producer Seth Rogen Announces

AMC has given a series order to the comic book adaptation of “Preacher.” Seth Rogen, who developed the story for television along with Evan Goldberg and “Breaking Bad” alum Sam Catlin, announced the good news on his Twitter.

The actor also revealed the poster for the series. Rogen also directed the show’s pilot episode, according to Variety.

“Preacher” is expected to start running on AMC on May 2016 and stars Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Joe Gilgun, W. Earl Brown, Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths and Elizabeth Perkins, Tom Brooke, Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson.

The comic book series was published from 1995 to 2000 and centers on Jesse Custer, a preacher from Texas small town who comes across a supernatural known as Genesis. Genesis has both angel and demon qualities. Jesse thinks he’s on a new mission to track down God, along with Tulip, his former girlfriend, and Cassidy, a vampire.

The comic book is from Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon and Catlin. Catlin will also serve as the showrunner for the series.

“Preacher’s” pilot episode was filmed during the summer, after AMC gave it a go last December.
