‘The Mindy Project’ Season 4 Update: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Freida Pinto, Garret Dillahunt and More Guest Appearances

Mindy_Kaling_at_PaleyFest_2013“The Mindy Project” is putting all the stops for its fourth season on Hulu. The show, which has been cancelled on Fox, is breathing new life on the streaming service and it’s making sure it stays alive with all these exciting casting announcements.

Earlier, it was already announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will appear in the series as Mindy’s love interest, while Frieda Pinto has been cast as Danny’s love interest. But fans need not be alarmed as the show isn’t going to break up Mindy and Danny just yet. Having the two actors on board will be for its special “Sliding Doors” episode, a sort of alternate reality timeline.

Meanwhile, Garret Dillahunt is also joining the series in a recurring role. He will be temporarily taking over Mindy’s work while she goes on maternity leave, according to Deadline.

The show has also found Mindy’s parents who will be played by Sakina Jaffrey and Ajay Mehta, according to E! Online. If you recall, at the end of Season 3, Danny flew to India to meet them face to face, but their identities were never revealed until now.

The Duplass brothers are also returning in Season 4 as the midwives who are in competition with Mindy’s practice a few floors down the building.

“The Mindy Project” has 26 episodes set for streaming on Hulu when it returns. “Mindy has been a beloved member of the Hulu family, so this deal is a natural extension of our relationship,” said Craig Erwich, senior vice president and head of content at Hulu. “With so many of her fans already catching up and tuning in to the series on Hulu, we know her millions of fans will be eager to find out what Mindy has in store for the next chapter.”
