Ed Sheeran Cast in ‘The Bastard Executioner’ From ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Creator Kurt Sutter
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has dabbled on TV for special guest and cameo appearances in the past. But now, the performing artist is taking on an actual role and it will be quite a challenge.
Sheeran will play Sir Cormac, “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder” in “The Bastard Executioner,” according to The Hollywood Reporter and the role is a recurring one.
The drama series, to roll out on cable channel FX, is created by “Sons of Anarchy’s” Kurt Sutter and it’s been described as a “blood-soaked medieval epic.” The show takes place in the 14th century and filming has already started in the U.K., Sheeran’s home country.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Sheeran and Sutter have previously worked together as he has recorded soundtracks for “Sons of Anarchy” before. He joins cast members Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Lee Jones, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, and even Sutter, who, time and again, appears on his shows.
Last season, Sheeran appeared on the comedy series “Undateable” playing himself, while he was also part of the TV show in Australia.
“The Bastard Executioner” is expected to premiere on cable in the upcoming fall season.
