Toy Story 4 Rumors: A new chapter coming in 2017
Pixar animator John Lasseter has teased details about the fourth instalment in the popular animated franchise – set to be released in June 2017 – revealing the plot will not follow on from ‘Toy Story 3’, which was released in 2010.
Speaking about the production at Cannes Film Festival, he said: “We’re in the early stages of the film, but it’s shaping up nicely. It’s funny. The story is not as much a continuation of the past films, but a brand new chapter in the ‘Toy Story’ world.”
John, who is the Chief Creative Officer of the studio, also mentioned another upcoming film, ‘The Good Dinosaur’, which tells the story of an Apatosaurus named Arlo who loses his father and gets lost, meeting a cave-boy named Spot as he attempts to make his way back home.
Commenting on the production, director Peter Sohn said the film is, “striving for a very unique tone, unlike any animated film made.
“I think our next movie asks the biggest ‘what if?’ of all. What if the asteroid that wiped out dinosaurs actually missed earth?”
Other films previewed at the event include ‘Zootopia’, ‘Moana’ and the much-anticipated ‘Finding Nemo’ sequel ‘Finding Dory’.
