‘The Last Ship’ Releases Stirring Season 2 Teaser and Poster
On the heels of its return for a second season run this summer, TNT has released the latest teaser and poster for “The Last Ship.” The unveiling was done at the WonderCon event in Anaheim last week.
When the show premiered in June of 2014, it was the number one new summer show on basic cable, raking at least 14.5 million viewers across the network’s combined resources, including the mobile and digital platforms. Produced by Michael Bay, the blockbuster filmmaker, the show stars Eric Dane, Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, John Pyper Ferguson, Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle and Christina Elmore.
“The Last Ship” charts the story of the lone Navy destroyer, the U.S.S. Nathan James, following a plague that has nearly wipeout the human race. Its captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and its crew must come to terms with the new reality and help the survivors. Meanwhile, a paleomicrobiologist, Dr. Rachel Scott (Mitra), desperately finds the cure that could eradicate the plague and bring order to world.
The show is based on the novel written by William Brinkley, with showrunners Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane tasked to keep the story exciting. Response from critics and TV viewers alike has given the show a favorable rating. The series has been cited for its thrilling action sequences, which can pass movie viewing expectations.
Renewed for Season 2 last July 2014, “The Last Ship” returns with a two-hour special premiere on Sunday, June 21 at 9:00 p.m. on TNT.
