How will DC Universe narrate the origin of Aquaman in 2018?
The DC Universe is eagerly awaiting what Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will have to offer next year but one thing that is for sure, most of the characters (if not all) who would be appearing in the movie will have their solo movie as well.
For those who haven’t heard yet, the Flash, Shazam, Wonder Woman and Aquaman will be having their own solo starrers.
Gal Gadot will get her share of the limelight in 2017, The Flash and Aquaman in 2018, Shazam in 2019, Cyborg and Green Lanter in 2020. And of course we all know that the Justice League will have two movies, the first part in 2017 and the second in 2019.
For DC fans, much of the superheroes’ origins may have already been known. Especially if you are an avid comic reader or had followed the Justice League throughout, one hero peculiarly doesn’t show much of an trace on how he came to be. To put it plain and simple, broad and/or vague.
The only details we have right now about Aquaman in 2018 is that he will be played by former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa. Based on the released image of director Zach Snyder, Aquaman (or Momoa) seems to be one bad-ass character who will be interesting to watch once Batman vs. Superman hits theaters next year.
Is that all?
As far as plots are concerned, there is no official word on how it would go. Even Jason Momoa is clueless. So why not make a wild guess?
Two movies, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad (2016) are said to be following (most of the scripts) of the animated versions. If you haven’t seen it yet, Aquaman did have his own story (technically) in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015).
So if the trend is used, could it be the same storyline that Momoa and Snyder could possibly work on?
For now, the movie has yet to hit production which is understandable since most of the focus is really on the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. But should this ‘hunch’ hold true, would it not make sense?
If you haven’t seen the movie, the story tells of Arthur Curry who is actually a half Atlantean prince.
A crisis between Atlantis and Earth was brewing at this time with Aquaman slowly discovering his powers and eventually helping out the Justice League fending off the rebellious army spearheaded by Aquaman’s half-brother Orm (Ocean Master).
The story ends with both worlds finding peace in the end and Aquaman taking over the reins of Atlantis.
With that said, could this be a framework for Aquaman 2018 as well? Though the animated version may not be followed in its full context, this was perhaps the best Aquaman origin told so far.
With 2018 still far off, this wild guess could be a possibility. Any wild conclusions on your end? Inputs will be highly appreciated, especially for the die-hard DC fans.
