The GAC AION UT is making its entry into the Philippine market with a clear objective: bringing a more human-centered approach to electric mobility. At a time when many vehicles are increasingly shaped by automation and digital optimization, GAC has positioned the AION UT as a model designed around everyday comfort, practicality, and real-world usability.

Built on the philosophy of “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum,” the compact electric hatchback maximizes cabin space while minimizing the vehicle’s mechanical footprint. The approach allows occupants to enjoy the roominess and flexibility typically associated with larger vehicles without increasing overall dimensions.

The result is what GAC describes as “big car energy,” combining efficient packaging with a spacious interior experience aimed at modern families and urban drivers alike.

Inspired by Human-Centered Engineering

A key figure behind the development of the AION UT is Masato Katsumata, Chief Technological Officer of GAC International. Known for his extensive career at Toyota, where he contributed to the development of several major vehicle programs, Katsumata played an influential advisory role throughout the project.

According to GAC, the veteran engineer viewed the AION UT as a deeply personal project, emphasizing comfort, safety, and practicality throughout the development process.

Rather than pursuing aggressive styling trends or purely data-driven design decisions, the development team focused on creating a vehicle with a welcoming and approachable character. Drawing inspiration from Milanese design concepts, the hatchback combines contemporary styling with everyday functionality.

That philosophy extends to the interior, where practical storage solutions and thoughtfully integrated compartments aim to reduce clutter and improve convenience for drivers and passengers.

Built around a class-leading 2,750mm wheelbase, the AION UT delivers a spacious cabin that accommodates a wide range of lifestyles, from daily commuting to family travel.

Technology Focused on Everyday Driving

Beyond its interior space, the GAC AION UT incorporates several technologies designed to address common concerns among electric vehicle buyers.

Among its key features is GAC’s proprietary Magazine Battery technology, which is designed to provide enhanced safety, durability, and resistance to extreme environmental conditions.

The vehicle also utilizes a high-strength steel body structure and multiple active safety systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, a 360-degree camera system, and intelligent drive-assistance technologies.

To improve efficiency and comfort, the AION UT features advanced noise, vibration, and harshness insulation, along with specialized low rolling resistance tires developed to help extend driving range.

GAC states that the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes using fast-charging infrastructure. The vehicle is also rated to deliver an estimated driving range of approximately 400 to 500 kilometers on a full charge cycle.

The AION UT Elite is available with an introductory price of PHP 998,000 until June 30, 2026, down from its suggested retail price of PHP 1,068,000. Customers may also qualify for an additional promotional discount for the first 400 units sold.

Supported by GAC Philippines’ growing dealership network and comprehensive aftersales program, the AION UT enters the market positioned as an accessible electric mobility option backed by long-term warranty coverage and nationwide support.
