Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program Expands With New Housing Projects
More than 7,000 Filipino families are set to benefit from the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP) following the Social Housing Finance Corporation’s approval of three new homeowners’ associations. The Credit Committee approved the projects on March 9 at the SHFC office in Makati.
The ECMP is a key component of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, implemented under the leadership of DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling. SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa led the approval alongside Credit Committee members.
New projects and beneficiaries
The approved projects include Sabang Puro Urban Kabisig Homeowners Association and Mabolo Homes Homeowners Association Inc. in Naga, Camarines Sur, and Divine Mercy Homeowners Association Inc. in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. A total of 470 families are expected to gain access to affordable housing through these initiatives.
With the new approvals, SHFC now oversees 41 ECMP projects nationwide, providing housing to more than 7,000 families. President Laxa highlighted the program’s goal to provide security of tenure and affordable housing for low-income earners, helping close the housing gap for hardworking Filipinos.
Program rollout and support
The ECMP ensures security of tenure for both formal and informal income earners, including laborers, farmers, carpenters, security guards, delivery riders, and Overseas Filipino Workers. SHFC, in coordination with DHSUD, has begun awarding checks for land acquisition where beneficiaries’ homes are built, along with grants for documentary processing.
Credit Committee members involved in project evaluation included Executive Vice President Atty. Junefe Payot, Support Cluster Senior Vice President Atty. Leo Deocampo, Resettlement Services Vice President Bob Flores, and Treasury Vice President Jason Yap. They were joined by Finance and Comptrollership Vice President Dante Anabe, Title Unitization and Assets Management Vice President Marissa Diestro, Compliance Officer and Board Secretary Atty. Karoline Abello-Tordecilla, and Regional Engineers and Architects Group Manager Engr. Manuel Driz, Jr.
