Canon earns EcoVadis Platinum status for second consecutive year
Canon (www.Canon-CNA.com) has once again earned EcoVadis Platinum status, ranking in the top 1% of companies worldwide for sustainability performance. EcoVadis evaluates companies across Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, covering more than 150,000 companies in 185 countries.
Canon’s overall score increased to 89/100, up from 85/100 in 2025, marking the second consecutive year the company has achieved Platinum status. High scores across all categories reflect Canon Group’s broad commitment to sustainable operations. Environment and Labour & Human Rights received particularly strong marks, demonstrating the company’s focus on both ecological impact and social responsibility.

Ambitious environmental and social goals
Canon continues to strengthen its global sustainability initiatives. The company has set a target to reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across all product life cycles (Scope 1, 2, and 3) by 2050. This long-term plan is complemented by intermediate targets, including a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (categories 1 and 11) by 2030 compared with 2022 levels. These targets follow SBTi standards and underline Canon’s measurable approach to environmental accountability.
In addition to environmental efforts, Canon enforces the Canon Group Human Rights Policy throughout all operations. Comprehensive human rights due diligence ensures labor practices meet global ethical standards. The company continuously monitors compliance and implements initiatives to strengthen social responsibility at every level of its operations.
Canon also invests in sustainable procurement practices, aiming to ensure suppliers adhere to environmental and ethical standards. By integrating these practices into supply chain management, the company reinforces sustainability beyond its own operations, influencing industry-wide improvement.
Platinum status underscores leadership
Peter Bragg, EMEA Sustainability & Government Affairs Director at Canon EMEA, said, “Achieving EcoVadis Platinum status for the second consecutive year demonstrates our commitment to responsible business. Our improved score validates progress in environmental and social initiatives and motivates us to continue setting high sustainability standards in our industry.”
The Platinum rating places Canon among the top 1% of companies globally assessed for sustainability. It reflects not only environmental leadership but also the company’s commitment to human rights, ethical governance, and sustainable procurement. Canon views this recognition as a benchmark for continuing improvement and a call to drive meaningful impact across the industry.
