Canon unveils EOS R6 Mark III and RF 45mm F1.2 STM for next-level creativity

Canon has rolled out the EOS R6 Mark III and RF 45mm F1.2 STM, strengthening its EOS R lineup with new tools for creators seeking speed, resolution, and affordable fast-aperture performance. The announcement brings major upgrades for photographers and hybrid shooters looking for pro-level capability in both stills and video.

The EOS R6 Mark III sits between the EOS R6 Mark II and EOS R5, powered by a new 32.5-megapixel full-frame sensor. It delivers up to 40fps electronic burst shooting, ISO up to 64,000, and 7K RAW Light recording up to 60p. Canon positioned the camera for sports, wildlife, events, and wedding shooters who need detail, speed, and reliable autofocus tracking.

EOS R6 Mark III targets action and hybrid creators

This model also supports oversampled 4K 60p, full-HD 180fps slow motion, and Open Gate recording for flexible framing across platforms. Subject detection expands to trains, airplanes, and horses, while Register People Priority allows photographers to select faces for tracking during key moments. The camera supports CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD cards, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and offers up to 8.5 stops of image stabilization.

Canon also unveiled the RF 45mm F1.2 STM, weighing just 346g and becoming the lightest f/1.2 lens in the RF lineup. With smooth STM autofocus, shallow depth of field, and a 9-blade aperture, it gives enthusiasts access to fast-aperture creativity previously reserved for premium L-series glass.

The lens features a 67mm filter thread, metal mount, dedicated control ring, and 45cm minimum focus distance. It supports Canon’s focus-breathing correction tech, making it well-suited for hybrid shooters moving between stills and video. With this launch, Canon continues expanding options for creators who want cinematic results in compact, accessible gear.
